Prototype Fund 2.0 Beta 1

2025 is a big year for us. We are celebrating eight years of Prototype Fund and then we are moving on to a new chapter: in June, class 01 of the Prototype Fund will start, marking the beginning of a new phase. For the first time, funding will not end abruptly after six months, but will be extended by four months for up to 15 projects, during which time they will work on ensuring the long-term sustainability of their projects. We have also made a handful of other changes to the funding program – and decided it is time for a ✨rebrand✨!

For the application phase of class 01, we had already compiled all the information on a temporary website and started with the new visualization of the Prototype Fund: to show that fundamental changes were taking place, we chose slightly more subtle colors. Instead of the previous bright blue and neon pink, we opted for purple and dark blue, which are intended to show that the Prototype Fund has grown up.

At the same time, we have already started a fundamental restructuring of our main website in the background. We were looking for support for this and found it with VillageOne: together with the design studio team, we have been brainstorming, tinkering and working hard over the last few weeks. Despite all the realignment, our core remains the same: we fund open source! We remain true to this motto and are all the more pleased that the code for our new website has been available live in full on our Github for a few days now:

From now on, you can watch live as our new website is developed. This is no small task, as we now have almost 400 projects, numerous evaluation and trend reports, blog posts, application information and much more. So we are all the more grateful to VillageOne, who were immediately on board with the idea of developing our website in public. This way, we are putting our money where our mouth is.
